Allied Health Care Profession
Allied health professions are healthcare professions, which are meant to provide support and enable the healthcare system to function adequately by providing important support services, which include the disease prevention, diagnostic, and other necessary services (Kovner, Knickman, & Jonas, 2016). These services enable healthcare professionals to perform their duties effectively, which also improve patient outcomes (Kovner, Knickman, & Jonas, 2016). One of the allied health care profession is anesthesiology which is a profession performed by nurse anesthesiologists who are highly skilled to implement anesthesia care plans in a health organization (Kovner, Knickman, & Jonas, 2016). This also involves making important medical decisions, which are responsible for the safety of patients during certain medical procedures, which may include surgery processes.
Other responsibilities include accompanying a patient before anesthesia, during the process, and after the anesthesia to ensure the safety of the patient and continuity of healthcare (Kovner, Knickman, & Jonas, 2016). Some of the professional organizations that serve this profession include the American Academy of Pain Medicine, which provides additional information and resources to help physicians in providing their services to patients effectively (Thompson, 2017). Another professional body is the American Board of Anesthesiologists, which is a board, which is responsible for examining and certifying physicians who have successfully completed the training program (Thompson, 2017).
One of the areas which the profession seeks to improve is the training involved to enable the physician anesthesiologists to provide improved patient safety and be effective in performing their roles and responsibilities (Thompson, 2017). This profession may also grow to better serve the ever-changing healthcare population through different ways. These include focusing on the advanced medical procedures, which will enable the healthcare professionals to improve their efficiency in providing care to patients (Thompson, 2017). Training will also prepare the anesthesia care team to anticipate the needs of patients based on the medical procedures and different circumstances.
