In the preface to nonfiction, it is mentioned that creative nonfiction is not an exact duplication of reality because the writing is affected by the authors point of view, which is something that I definitely agree with. I believe that every author has a biased, whether they think they do or not. Although, I don’t believe that there can be a truly reliable narrator as everyone is different and thinks differently so their stories will always have a piece of them that alters the duplication. In Danticat’s Brother, I’m Dying, I feel like the point was made because the story is being told through the author’s point of view instead of third person. The author was trying to understand her father’s feelings, but since I was not able to witness his feelings first hand I think this writing was in fact affected by Danticat’s point of view.
