One argument in favor of the issue is conserving elephants. Under the culture, believing ivory is revered as social, cultural, medical and religious value, Chinese demand for it is huge and climbing. A research indicates that China imported 62 tones of ivory from southern Africa in 2009, and there were 34 officially designated ivory producer and 130 licensed retailers who trade tons of legal ivory goods in 2006. (Li Zhang, 2015) Such considerable demand causes elephants being destroyed as part of the tusk resides within the elephants’ face, they are usually slaughtered in order to extract the tusk and then carved into finished good. (Rizzolo, 2017) If this transaction is still approved by Chinese government, elephants will become extinct. As a matter of fact, elephant plays an essential role in preserving sustainable habitat
