SOCIAL NETWORKS AND OUR YOUNG GENERATION
Good morning jury members. I’d like to quickly introduce myself. My name is ROHIT MANDAR student from BITS PILANI, PILANI Campus. So topic for today’s speech is social networks and our young generation.
With the help of networking, it can help people make friends and to search to find some personal relationship and families can stay in touch more easily. Nowadays, large number of people connect to networking sites which leads to increases the number of relationships. Peoples use social networking sites as developing business contact tool and maintaining contact with them. Websites such as LinkedIn can be convenient place for the professionals to talk about business. Developing business contacts on internet is easier and faster than offline.
The most important advantages of social networking site is that these sites spread information much faster than any other media, help students to do better in their academics , allow people to improve their relationships and make new friends. Apart from this these days when the geographical location was a limitation in the trading industry. We can meet a customer and close a business deal within minutes courtesy of social media which allow us to sell anything all over the world.
Ever coin has its two sides, There are many disadvantages of these sites such as, students who are heavy social media user tend to have lower grades, and these sites can lead to stress and offline relationship problems. Don’t spend a lot of time on social media at the expense of work. You could spend such time to do other important work and try to generate more income as “time is money” we all agree with the fact. We can use part of time we spend on social media to engage in meaningful activities.
As most common example where these social media sites fail to meet the needs of people close to us, at any hangout or get-together more time is spent on clicking photographs and updating the virtual world on what’s going on, rather than enjoying the event. The photos are uploaded within an hour, and then begins the flood of “Likes” and comments. We forget that we chose the people we want to interact with on these sites. On the other hand the time, energy and clicks we spend on getting that perfect picture, all goes away to the drain one of the friend’s picture gets more attention.
In the end I would like to conclude by saying that social media can create several millionaires among us the young generation if and only if we learn to stop wasting time on these platforms. All we need to do is to balance the things in such a ways that we always get the best. Instead of wasting the most valuable thing “time” on such sites do something useful so that you will not regret yourself when you look back to your old memories. Thank you!!
